Meet the YP Adventure camper Van!

Our tiny home is a 2019 Mercedes Sprinter Van with a tall roof and extended wheelbase. In short, it’s the longest and tallest van Mercedes builds. It’s diesel and 4wheel drive so we feel pretty good about traveling far and wide into the backcountry.

We installed an amazing German Engineered heater that runs off of our fuel tank (uses very little :)) and a Lithium battery/solar system that powers all of our needs. The solar system has been amazing and we are always able to recharge all the energy that we use. It has never let us down yet!

We have a 25-gallon freshwater tank that is plumbed in with a water pump that kicks on whenever you turn on the faucet. We also included a filter water tap for drinking water. If we’re being super careful we can make 25 gallons last a week!

We built into the van a queen size bed/platform with drawers underneath for clothes storage. In the galley of the van, we have upper cabinets where we store more clothes, one full cabinet for coffee equipment, and one for pantry items. Under the bed/platform towards the back, we have a garage that is accessed mostly from the backdoors.

Our garage is where the water tank, batteries, bikes, tools, and the rest of our things are housed. We built shelves and sliders to be able to access and store the bikes and tools.

We originally designed a shower stall in the van however after some short trips/test-runs, we realized that a shower would take up too much room. We rather use our space for ample living space. Instead, we built a long bench that is the size of a typical couch. For showering, we use a pop-up tent and an instant hot-water heater shower system which can be set up right outside the door and works beautifully!

Here are a few pictures of the van build between July to October 2020.

On the roof, we have full-length aluminum decking that holds our three solar panels and can store firewood or extra equipment if we choose. We also use it for stargazing when we visit the darkest corners of the US. Our awning is attached to the roof rack which is important for those sunny days in the desert.

Together, we built out the entire van all by ourselves. This van build is what we were doing during the summer of 2020 along with filming classes and creating/conducting online yoga trainings. Cabinetry, electrical, water, and even the massive roof rack (with the help of our kids) were all installed by us!

For now, this is our home full time. This is where we have slept since the middle of October 2020. Soon we’ll be 8 months in the van. It seems like time has flown by but also it seems like so long ago we sold our house and gave away just about everything we owned.

Now, we get to share our tiny home on wheels with others and this makes us happy! If you have adventure in your bones and you want to have freedom to see the backcountry up close in comfort, then book a trip.
