YP Classes

All ages, shapes, sizes, and abilities are welcome to any class (we love beginners :)). Our flow style classes emphasize linking breath and movement. Although we have Flow and Slow Flow classes on our schedule, many will find that our regular Flow is slower than standard vinyasa classes. This is because we emphasize the importance of slow breathing and intentional movement for regaining balance (physical, mental, & spiritual). Although we don't move fast on the mat, you will find that this doesn't equal easy. Our classes are known for their intelligent yet empowering sequencing. Each YP class you take will be familiar yet different.

We believe yoga is one of the best tools for physical and mental wellness. Mindfulness, meditation, and breathwork are all integral to our teaching.

  • Flow: Our signature class at the perfect warmth and humidity for a cleansing sweat at 90 F. Expect a flow-based practice incorporating functional movement, mindfulness, and embodiment.

  • Slow Flow: A slower, more chill form of our Flow class at a comfortably warmed room temperature of 90 F.

  • Candlelight: Our Slow Flow in a candlelight glow for winding down and easing tension (gently warmed to 90 F).

  • Gentle Yoga: This gentle yoga class welcomes all levels of students. Expect a mix of floor and standing postures that focus on dynamic balance, stability, mobility, and functional breath work. This class is cool and not heated.

  • Foundations: This class is for those seeking to build or strengthen their foundational practice skills. Beginners and seasoned practitioners will benefit. The room is gently warmed to 80 F.

  • From over 20 years of teaching yoga and training yoga teachers, I have developed a passion for teaching “non-traditional” yoga students. I hold a Master’s degree in Kinesiology with concentrations in orthopedic rehabilitation and exercise psychology. I specialize in working with individuals with chronic pain and stress-related tension by identifying and addressing the root cause of imbalance. I support clients recovering from injury/surgery or those undergoing major illness treatment. Additionally, I design mindful movement prescriptions that incorporate tools for mindset and balancing the autonomic nervous system. If you have hesitations about getting started and aren’t sure how to cultivate your unique practice, I can help.

Dave & Stacy Dockins

The Denton Yoga Project is the fruit of 25 years of teaching students and teachers across the US and internationally. The first YP opened in 2005 in Waxahachie, TX, followed by three additional locations in the DFW metroplex. Unfortunately, the pandemic invited us to close these locations and to take our classes and training online. In hindsight, it has been a blessing to nurture and grow our online curriculum while reaching many more students across and beyond the USA.

We are ready to offer daily in-person classes again, see old students, and welcome new ones. The new studio will not only be a place for daily community classes and workshops but a venue for international training.

YP Studio

The Denton location will be our 6th studio to design. Every detail is intentional. Our heating and humidification system is dialed in for just the right amount of sweat. We don't believe in excessive heat, but we do believe in sweating. Why? Daily sweating takes a significant load off the body's natural detoxification system. Also, it is more comfortable to balance hyperactive tissues in the warmth. We have a fresh air replenishment system to ensure a safe and comfortable environment. Please read these 7 Health Benefits From Sweating!

Ample space, natural lighting, plenty of plants, and no mirrors make our space inviting and safe. Our lobby has plenty of room and seating to arrive early before class. In addition, there are two restrooms in the hallway off the back of the studio.

***Not sure about the heat? Consider that several factors go into how the heat will feel to you. The room temperature, humidity level, fresh air, and pace of movement and breath all contribute to the overall experience. We have been experimenting with these factors for 15 years to find the right combination for most people. Still not sure? Give it a try. Take a few classes before making up your mind!
