embodied posture yoga strength

Learn to thoughtfully integrate external load, functional movement, and strength training into the yoga environment.

50-Hour Professional Certification + Yoga Alliance Continuing Education

Yoga teachers understand movement. But for many, strength training—and particularly teaching with external load—was never part of their education.

Embodied Posture Yoga Strength bridges that gap.

Rooted in the Embodied Posture Method, this training brings together movement science, functional strength, mindfulness, and embodied teaching to give you the knowledge and practical experience to confidently incorporate loaded movement into your classes.

This isn't about simply adding dumbbells to yoga.

It's about understanding why we load, how we load, and how to teach strength in a way that honors individual bodies, encourages autonomy, and builds meaningful capacity over time.

Strength Through the Embodied Posture Lens

Strength is more than an exercise selection or a number on a dumbbell.

Through the Embodied Posture Method, we approach strength with the same curiosity we bring to all movement: observing the individual, understanding function, and adapting rather than prescribing a single "right" way to move.

You'll learn the principles behind strength development while exploring how external load changes movement, sensation, stability, mobility, and the teaching environment.

Our goal isn't to give you a collection of exercises to memorize.

We'll teach you how to understand strength well enough to observe, reason, adapt, and create.

What You'll Learn

Strength Training Foundations

Develop a practical understanding of load, sets, reps, rest, intensity, progressive overload, RPE, recovery, and adaptation—without needing a background in traditional strength training.

Loaded Functional Movement

Explore foundational movement patterns including squatting, hinging, pushing, pulling, lunging and single-leg work, carrying, and core stabilization. Learn how load, leverage, mobility, and individual structure influence each.

Anatomy + Movement Through the EPM Lens

Use anatomy and movement science not simply to identify muscles and joints, but to inform what you see. You'll practice observing movement strategies, recognizing individual variability, and making thoughtful choices based on the person in front of you.

Programming + Class Design

Learn how to select exercises, balance movement patterns, determine appropriate volume and intensity, and build a cohesive Yoga Strength class that supports meaningful progression.

Embodied Strength Teaching

Bring mindfulness and embodiment into the strength environment. Explore cueing, sensation, breath, agency, load selection, pacing, and the communication skills that help students develop trust in their own bodies.

Observation, Adaptation + Relevant Improvisation

Move beyond predetermined solutions. You'll practice pausing, seeing, getting curious, and responding—developing the confidence to modify movements, loads, and teaching strategies in real time.

Teaching Practicum

Knowledge becomes useful when you can apply it. Throughout the training, you'll coach, observe, teach, receive feedback, refine, and teach again.

A Hybrid Training by Design

Some things are best learned together in the room. Others need time to absorb, revisit, and practice.

That's why Embodied Posture Yoga Strength intentionally combines immersive in-person learning with a concise online curriculum you can return to again and again.

Across two Friday–Sunday immersion weekends, we'll prioritize the things that benefit most from being together: lifting, observing, coaching, experimenting, teaching, and receiving feedback.

Your virtual curriculum will deepen that experience through short educational modules, two livestream Yoga Strength classes with Q&A, applied assignments, and opportunities to integrate what you're learning between the two weekends.

Who Is This Training For?

Embodied Posture Yoga Strength is designed for yoga teachers and movement professionals who want to expand their understanding of strength and confidently incorporate external load into their teaching.

Participants should have completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training or have equivalent professional experience in movement, fitness, or movement education.

You don't need to be an experienced lifter.

You do need to be curious.

Whether strength training is already part of your personal practice or you're just beginning to explore it, we'll give you the foundational knowledge, practical experience, and teaching tools to meet you where you are and build from there.

This Is Not Yoga Sculpt

We're not interested in adding weights simply to make yoga harder, faster, or sweatier.

Embodied Posture Yoga Strength uses external load intentionally—to develop strength, increase capacity, explore movement, and support the things we want our bodies to continue doing throughout our lives.

The result is a practice that still feels deeply rooted in yoga and Embodied Posture, while providing something traditional asana alone often cannot: progressive resistance and meaningful opportunities to get stronger.

Leave Ready to Teach

By the end of the certification, you'll have more than a library of exercises.

You'll understand the principles behind what you're teaching.

You'll know how to choose and progress movements, work with different bodies and abilities, use load intentionally, build a balanced class, and coach students with greater confidence.

Most importantly, you'll leave with a framework that continues evolving with you.

Because good teaching isn't about having all the answers.

It's about learning how to see, stay curious, and respond to the person in front of you.
